My Weekend Trip......

Hello Dear World............I'm Back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On my drive down to Crooked River State Park my family and I saw many different places including the Ogeechee River, the Jerico River and the Turtle River which were all pretty amazing.

After a few long hours of being on the road we arrived at the Crooked River State Park in St. Mary's Georgia. It is located on Georgia's colonial coast and it surrounded by lots of Spanish moss. At night the entire park is pitch black kind of like a haunting poem that the famous poet Mr. Poe would have written about.

Before I go let me say that there is a restaurant by the park called St. Mary's Seafood & Steak House which doesn't have good food at all. My family and I wouldn't recommend it. So there's no need to stop there for a bite to eat.

Now on to the news of my trip.........and some little notes about it.

For all of you bird lovers like me..........Crooked River State Park is home to various birds such as a Chimney Swift, a Purple Martin, a Gray Catbird, a Pine Warbler, a Song Sparrow, a Common Grackle, a Brown-Headed Cowbird, a Rock Dove and many others.

What I'm also about to share with you might not be so interesting.......but here it is. Crooked River is also home to rather large sized pine cones which I didn't know until I arrived.

Here is something more interesting........My family and I went to a Crawfish festival in a place called Woodbine, Georgia. The Crawfish was pretty good and I have to say that there was a huge amount of people there. There were items there for sale such as purses, belts, arts and crafts and toys and various other items for people like myself to buy. I didn't buy anything but my oldest niece purchased a sparkly gold purse which she loves. At the festival there was also some pretty tasty funnel cakes which were mouth-watering. Here's a little note..........To get to the Crawfish you had to take a long walk to the beginning of the festival to the very end of a long bridge which seemed to go on forever. We finally got to the end and ate which was the best part of the festival for me. Before getting back to the car we stopped at some booths which sold fast food. My folks had hot dogs on a stick while my oldest niece and I had a ice cream called mini-melts which resembled dippin' dots. After all of that we got back at the park.

At the park I rode on my oldest niece's bicycle which I have to admit I haven't ridden in quite a while. For dinner we went to a place called La Cucina which was something like being in a small cafe in Italy. After dinner we went back the campsite where my dad, both of my nieces and I played our own kind of baseball. For those of you who want to know the showers at Crooked River were nice. Though they didn't have a beach or a pool for us to enjoy it turned out to be a nice campground. The number of our campsite was #22 by the way.......

On the very last day of our trip we packed up the camper and we headed out on the road. Before heading home we stopped off at the Cracker Barrel to eat. We also bought a few items there.

After the Cracker Barrel we stopped off in a little town called Metter, Georgia before heading home. There was a few ducks who came up to us when we started feeding them Cheetos puffs. One of the ducks had ( 5 ) baby ducks with them which both of my nieces loved including my folks and I. While we were feeding the ducks we started noticing that in the water turtles started coming up to the surface and taking some of the cheetos down into the water which we had never seen before. They seemed to enjoy the cheetos we had.

If your curious Metter is the county seat of Candler County. Its located in the heart of Southeast Georgia between Macon and the port city of Savannah. After Metter we stopped off at a little gas station and then we popped back into the car and finally headed for home.

After a little drive more we finally got home. I have to say that I enjoyed my trip at St. Mary's Georgia. My family and I are already planning the next trip...........As you can tell I can't wait for that.

I just wish you all could have been with me to see it all for yourselves. I'm sure you would have enjoyed it as much as I did. By sharing it with you all here in J-Land you have a chance to step into my trip with me.

Hopefully you enjoyed reading about my trip and I shall be talking to you again soon.............I want you to know that I thought of you all while I was gone........

Good-night my dear friends........Sleep Well and Sweet Dreams

Monae
It sounds like you had a wonderful trip.  Thanks for sharing it with us.  My family used to camp at state parks many years ago when I was but a boy.  I remember those trips fondly.  I wish I could have gone to that Crawfish festival.
