My Memorial Day.........

Hello Dear World......

First I would like to say a huge " THANKS " to the soldiers in Iraq who are fighting for freedom and to make the world a better place. I would also like to offer my condolences to the families of those who have lost loved ones who were also serving in Iraq my heart goes out to you. I would also like to say thank you for the men who fought in Vietnam and all of the other soldiers who I might not have mentioned you are not forgotten at all. I would like to also thank the many men and women who are in the Navy, the Marines and all of you who have fought to make the world a better place you get my many, many thanks.

To all of you my dear world how was your Memorial Day ?? I went over to my cousins house. We brought our new puppy to my cousins house. Yes we are keeping the puppy its doing quite well and its eating as if it were a full grown dog. My cousin recently put in a pool over his house which my nieces and my dad enjoyed. I didn't go into the pool because I was taking care of the puppy. My cousin recently got a dog himself for his kids and let me tell you his dog was a little too active for our puppy so I had to take it out front much of the day so he could walk, eat and do other things. The cook-out was held in my cousins backyard which was nice. At my cousins house there was a woman there who is a professional dog breeder and she informed us that our puppy is a boy. My uncle told us it was a girl dog so we were unsure of whether our new puppy was a boy or a girl. By the way we named our newest addition to our family " Hobo " what do you think ?? The lady also informed us that our dog wasn't even 6 weeks old so its still quite young. Of course we are spoiling our dog rotten.

By the way I went to PetsMart on Saturday and spent $75.00 on Hobo buying a kennel cage so we start potty training. I also bought chew toys, lots of puppy food, some flea and tick shampoo and some bones for Hobo to snack on. PetsMart is the place to go for pets the store has it all. Here is the link if you want to check it out --------------> http://www.petsmart.com/.

On a different note I watched a new movie recently called "A Lot Like Love" with Ashton Kutcher which isn't just a funny movie but its also a little bit of a romantic movie. I had never seen it before but Ashton had a show called "Punked" which is a show where pranks are pulled on celebrities, actors and actresses who are unaware that a prank is taking place. Ashton is a very funny guy and so I wanted to see the movie. If you like funny, romantic movies you will enjoy it.

I came upon a journal on Blogspot titled "Adventures In Juggling" here is the link ---------> http://adventuresinjuggling.blogspot.com/  which included 13 things so I did as well here they are:

Here are 13 of my things:

1. Someone gave me the gift of a puppy

3. I like chocolate

4. I love J-Land

5. My favorite color is brown

8. Fridays are Fun

9. Ben & Jerry's is great ice cream

10. Today is Monday

11. Tomorrow is Tuesday

12. I live in Georgia

13. This is # 13

Anyway.....tomorrow I do have to go back to work but I will beback to chat with you again my dear world........

Good-night and sleep well.

A New Family Member.........

Hello Dear World !!!!!

Its Friday !!!!! How are you ?? How was your day ? I hope it was a good one.

I have some rather exciting news about my family which might include a new family member or should I say a new baby in the family. A few hours ago my oldest niece found a little puppy outside of our basement door outside. The puppy was covered from head to toe in fleas and ticks which we hated to see. My mom and I took a ride down to the store to buy some flea and tick shampoo, a flea and tick collar and some dog food. After we got home we picked up the dog which was sitting underneath one of my youngest nieces play wagons. We took it inside, washed it, dryed it and my nieces both played with it. We put it downstairs to sleep. We will be taking it to the vet and making sure it gets its shots. We don't know as yet if we will keep it. Its a tiny little puppy you might say its the size of a tiny nerf football but its a really cute puppy. Its fur is the color of light brown wheat and underneath its all white and its fur is soft like cotton balls. Its been a while since we had a dog since the loss of a dog we had some time ago and had gotten sick. We don't know what we are going to name it since we might keep it.... any ideas ?????? Its nice to know that we might have a new addition to our family.

On a different note I am off of work for the weekend. Monday my work will also be closed for Memorial Day. Do you have any plans for the weekend ? If I didn't tell you already my youngest niece is graduating from Pre-K tomorrow. Both of my nieces will be out of school next week.

I would also like to report that my favorite actor Keanu Reeves is coming out with a romantic movie called "The Lake House" with Sandra Bullock. He has starred in such movies as Speed, The Replacements, Point Break and now he will be in "The Lake House." I would like to go see this movie. There is a movie theatre here in Georgia called Tinseltown and its a nice theatre. Here are some sites to see Keanu ----->

http://www.keanu-reeves.net/

http://keanu.fan-sites.org/

http://keanuweb.com/

Here is another site for you to check out --------> http://thelakehousemovie.warnerbros.com/

Of course it was another day of explosively hot weather. Of course it could be snowing so I guess I can live with the heat. To those of you my dear friends out there in J-Land may I ask how your children are doing ? If you have nieces and nephews I would like to know how they are doing.

I have a little secret......when it comes to plants instead of a green thumb it turns out that I have a black thumb. I have found out that I overwater plants. I have learned this from my mother who has taught me that too much water can be bad for a plant. Question : How much water do you give a plant if not enough is bad and too much is bad as well ? I would love all the advice you could give me. Hopefully the plant police won't come and arrest me for cruelty to plants. How much time could I get for that do you think ??? Just kidding....ha,ha,ha,ha

Anyway...I hope that your weekend will be a good one. I will talk to you later. Have a good one my dear world

Sincerly yours,

M.

I AM SO HAPPY !!!!!!!!!!

Hello Dear World !!!!!!!

How are you today ? It was another steamy day here in Georgia but it was okay. I have some rather exciting news actually great news......Taylor Hicks is the new American Idol let me repeat that again. Taylor Hicks is the new American Idol. I know I said that I wouldn't watch American Idol again but my other favorite singer Chris Daughtry was also singing on the season finale.

Here are some links to see Chris -----------> http://www.chrisdaughtryfans.com/

http://www.chris-daughtry.org/

http://chrisdaughtryrocks.com/

Here is a link to see Taylor Hicks ---------> http://www.taylorhicksfansite.com/

I am so HAPPY that Taylor won he is such a great singer. Chris was quite amazing as well. Next to Taylor and Chris I got to hear my other favorite singer Prince sing in the finale. I didn't know that he was going to be on the show but it was a really wonderful surprise. Besides being a great singer he is a very nice looking guy.

Anyway.....I can't wait to buy Taylor's CD. I wonder if he will ever have a concert here in Georgia I would definitely buy tickets for that. I would like to add that Mandisa was still wonderful she is quite a singer as well.

Can you believe that 63.45 million votes were cast ? I enjoyed hearing Mandisa and Paris sing on the show. Paris Bennett sang beautifully with Al Jarreau and Elliott Yamin sang with Mary J. Blige. Taylor sang with Toni Braxton which really showed Taylor's talents as a singer. Paris did wonderfully as well with Al Jarreau. I don't think that anyone could have performed as well as Paris. That young lady has a lot of talent as a singer.

On a different note a new movie is coming out called Poseidon. The movie includes the actor Josh Lucas which I am thrilled to hear. Josh isn't just a talented actor but he is quite a handsome guy. I can't wait to go see the movie just because he's in it. The other movie The Da Vinci Code is coming out but I would rather go see Poseidon right now and then wait for The Da Vinci Code to come out on DVD. Josh also played in another movie called Sweet Home Alabama with Reese Witherspoon and I have to say it was a great movie. Every movie that Josh is in turns out to be good I can't wait to see his new movie I'm sure it will be good to.

Here is a link to see Josh Lucas --------> http://www.joshlucas.com/

Did you watch the season finale of American Idol dear world ? Have you also watched any good movies ?

By the way how is the weather in your neck of the woods ? It seems like Summer arrived early in Georgia it keeps getting hot, hot, hot, hot.

If you don't hear from me tomorrow its probably because my feet got stuck to the ground due to the heat.....If you happen to hear that a young lady was found glued to the ground somewhere in Atlanta know that it was me.

Well I hope that you have a great evening, a delightful weekend and a Happy Memorial Day. Take care my dear world...........

An Inspiring Story.......

Hello Dear World.....

Good evening. I thought I would share an inspiring story I read this morning while reading the paper. A 2nd-grader by the name of Braxton Bilbrey who is a 7-year-old boy from Arizona swam from Alcatraz Island to the city of San Francisco in 47 minutes on Monday in which his father lifted him from the chilly waters.

Before I tell you the story of this courageous young man let's step back into a little bit of the past. Does anyone remember Alcatraz or a.k.a "The Rock" ? First let me rewind a bit.........In the middle of San Francisco Bay sits the island of Alcatraz.

Alcatraz began in the mid 1930's until the mid 1960's which was America's premier maximum security prison. It was the final stop for the nation's most incorrigible inmates like that of the Chicago mobster Al Capone, Machine Gun Kelly and the Birdman of Alcatraz just to name a few. You can check out the site at ---------------> http://www.nps.gov/alcatraz/ .

Recently the 7-year-old Braxton Bilbret swam from Alcatraz Island to the city of San Francisco in 47 minutes on Monday. Braxton Bilbrey was joined by his coach and two other adults for the estimated 1.4 - mile swim. The 2nd grader was greeted at the finish by reporters, photographers adn well-wishers.

Braxton reportedly replied "I think its pretty cool," he said shortly after his father grabbed him and pulled him out of the water, whose temperature was in the mid-50's.

Braxton said his next ambition is to swim the English Channel. His mother wasn't sold on the idea of her son swimming from Alcatraz, but she accepted it once he proved he was dedicated to his goal. His mother told reporters "For a 7-year-old to be that motivated and stick with a goal that long is amazing,"

Alcatraz which was once a federal prison is now a tourist site that attracts about 1 million visitors a year.It also draws a fair share of swimmers who attempt the crossing as part of the annual Escape from Alcatraz triathlon.

Braxton, who lives in Glendale, Arizona., got the idea when he saw an article about a 9-year-old boy who made the swim. Johnny Wilson, a 4th grader from Hillsborough, Calif. completed the swim in 53-degree waters in October.

His coach Joe Zemaitis said Braxton, who has completed several short-scale youth triathlons, planned to rest up after his swim. His father Steve Bilbrey was reported to have said that "He did great," "He looked so strong. He did so awesome, I'm so proud of him."

In reading that his next ambition is to swim the English Channel I'm certain that he can do just that. I'm also certain that Braxton will accomplish many great things in his life.

I'm hoping that reading this little bit of news will fill you with inspiration. I am hoping that you enjoyed reading this about Braxton. I think we all need people like him around.

What do you think of this story dear world ? Isn't this wonderful ? I just wanted to share this little bit of inspiring news with you.

On a more different note I read something else that I think you will enjoy. Did you know that Cereal is no longer just for breakfast ? Well there was a little piece of information that I think you will like to know.

Cereal bars are popping up across the country. There is one called Cereality Cereal Bar & Cafe which scoops up 30 different types of hot and cold cereal, plus toppings ranging from fruit to nuts to malted milk balls.Check out its site here ---------------> http://www.cereality.com/ . By the way do you like cereal ? I like Cocoa Pebbles did I tell you that ? I just thought you would like to know.

Anyway.......I hope that your day was a nice one its getting rather steamy here in Georgia. I guess Summer decided to arrive a little early this year. It looks like its going to be a boiling summer........What's the weather like in your neck of the woods ???

I guess that's about all for now..........Byyyyyyyyye !!!!!!

Monday, Monday, Monday.......

Hi Jeannette, Sandra, Hadon, Susan, Iris, Jon, David, Sam, Mr. Brimm, Mary, Helen and to all of you my dear friends at J-Land how are you ??

It was a rather steamy day here in Georgia somewhere in the high 80's. How was my night you wonder.......Well I am sad to report that my favorite show 24 with Kiefer Sutherland had its season finale tonight. It wasn't until the very end that I learned that it will return next season. Kiefer Sutherland I must say isn't just a very handsome guy but he's a pretty great actor. Kiefer if your listening don't you dare think about leaving 24 like George Clooney did in my other favorite show "ER". I'm still mad at George for that one.

Later in the evening at 10:00 one of my favorite classic movies "84 Charing Cross Road" came on which starred Anthony Hopkins and Anne Bancroft. This movie is my ultimate favorite next to Howard's End that is. I think that Anthony Hopkins is a wonderful actor. Do you have a favorite movie ?? or a favorite classic ??

So my dear friends what did you do today ?? I hope that you have a wonderful week and before I forget as I sometimes do "Have A Great Memorial Day"

Good-night and sweet dreams........

I Have RETURNED !!!!!!!

Hi Dear World !!!!!!!

I'm back !!!!!!!! On the 19th we arrived at Indian Springs State Park at campsite #73.

As you might not know Indian Springs is one of the oldest state parks in the United States. At Indian Springs there is a spring which The Creek Indians used for centuries to heal the sick and impart extra vigor to the well. During the 1800's, the area was a bustling resort town....I just thought I would share a litte historical information before I told you about my trip.

On our first night there we went out to eat at a place called Carlos' Mexican Grill. They had a deck outside filled with guys dressed like Urban Cowboys some even looked like John Travolta did in the movie "Urban Cowboy". I saw the deck as I walked into the restaurant. My family and I ate inside. The food well it was alright I wouldn't say great. If your looking to hear music and not so great food then Carlos' is for you.

The next day we spent the entire day at the beach. I happened to get cooked like a lobster. I'm pretty much red at the moment. Anyway....Something did occur at the beach. If your afraid of snakes you might not want to read the rest of this part of my trip. Anyway....A woman screamed at the top of her lungs which alerted everyone in the water that a snake was also bathing in the water. There isn't a lifeguard at the beach we went to ever as we have come to learn. Everyone including young ones got out of the water unharmed of course. No one knew the specific name of the snake except that it had red all over its head so I don't know if it was poisonous or not. It swam to the other side of the beach to another part of the shore where it went away harming no one in the area. All in all it was a nice day and the temperatures stayed in the 90's which was pretty steamy. Let me tell you I always end up burned after our trips but rest assured I will be fine.

Early the next morning we packed up and began to leave the park. But before leaving we went to the office so I could buy my youngest niece a necklace with some rocks from the area. I also purchased one for my oldest niece which she was happy about. After all of that we stopped off atthe Spring House and filled some bottles with the mineral water from the Springs. When returning home you have to let it sit out so the sulphur in the water can evaporate. Yes the water is drinkable after 24 hours. Being that there is Sulphur in the water it has to sit open and allowed to evaporate. A lot of people from all over the world bring bottles, water jugs and other containers so they can collect water which is believed to heal those who are sick and to give extra wellness to those who aren't. We have gone to collect the water many times when we visit. Some people from China. England and Boston and many people from different places as well have been to the Spring to collect the water as well. The address to the place is as follows:

Indian Springs State Park

Lake Clark Road

Flovilla, GA. 30216

The phone number is ( 770 ) 504 - 2277

If your ever in the Georgia area you might want to take a stop over and visit the Springs for yourself. My family and I just enjoy going to different places and going camping. We have a great time this weekend and we plan to go camping again soon. I can't wait for our very next trip.

Have you ever been camping ?

How was your weekend by the way ??? Our entire weekend was filled with wonderful weather. The temperatures stayed in the 90's and we were happy about the nice weather. It was a little warm but it was still nice. I had a great time and I did bring back some pretty nice souveniers from my trip as well as plenty of memories.

Have you ever been somewhere that you really liked ? Let me know I would like to know about the different places you've been.

Well I will talk to you again tomorrow. Have a great week. Its back to work for me so for now I will say have a wonderful evening.

Byyyyye for now

Another Unbelievable Story and Going Camping For The Weekend....

Hello Dear World.....

Good evening. Let me begin by saying that if you don't hear from me over the weekend its because my family and I will be heading to a campground for the weekend. We will be going to Indian Springs State Park in Flovilla, Ga. I can't wait until we get there I'm sure it will be fun.

The unbelievable story I wanted to share with you is about someone who recently tried to sell New Zealand which is NOT for sale by the way. A person in Australia tried to offload the nation of New Zealand at $4 million to the highest online bidder on E-bay. With a starting price of just 1 cent, brisk bidding for the prime chunk of South Pacific real estate quickly boosted the price to $2,330 before E-bay pulled the plug on the auction last week. "Clearly New Zealand is not for sale" which was confirmed by E-bay Australia spokesman Daniel Feller who had told the New Zealand Press Association, adding that 22 bids had been made before the company acted. The trader had not been named but apparently was unimpressed with New Zealand.

Can you believe that someone actually tried to sell New Zealand ?? I can't believe that someone tried to sell it on E-bay.

On a different note a lot of my favorite shows ended for the season including Will & Grace, ER and Bones. Let me tell you I was a huge fan of the show Will & Grace. I can't believe the show is over. Today I heard that a lot of people were talking about the movie the " Da Vinci Code ". I haven't seen the movie though. Have you seen it dear world ? On the radio I heard that the movie is getting some controversy.

Leonardo da Vinci painted the famous "Mona Lisa" which I was named after as well as Claude Monet the artist did I tell you that ? Did you also know that Mona Lisa was a lady named Lisa de Gheradini. Did you also know that Leonardo was born April 15, 1452 in the Tuscan town of Vinci which is west of Florence. Here's another interesting fact: In 1502, he did a simple drawing of a 1,080-foot stone bridgeto span the Golden Horn Inlet in what is now Turkey, Norwegian artist Vebjorn Sand built a tribute called the "Leonardo Bridge" which is a 330-foot wooden footbridge which opened in 2001 near Oslo.

Last but not least I came upon another journal that I think you will enjoy titled " Nancy luvs pix ". Here is the link ------------> http://journals.aol.com/nhd106/Nancyluvspix

If you don't hear from me over the weekend please know that I will return.

Good-night and I will miss you all. Byyyyyyyye for now.

Something called " Wednesday " and Believe It Or Not Stories

Hello Dear World.....

How are you ?? I am doing fine. I wanted to share something with you. I was going through the Atlanta Journal Constitution when I came upon a little news that you might not believe so see for yourself.

A " human zoo " is set to open soon in Shanghai, China. Four Australian men will live in a glass box on a downtown mall for two weeks in June, with the public able to watch them sleep, eat and bathe, as reported in the newspaper. The group, known as the Urban Dream Capsule, has drawn crowds with similar displays in London, Hong Kong and other visited cities. I read that they show their whole lives from getting up to going to bed which is reported by a lady named Karen Chang, the event's organizer which she also reported to the Shanghai Daily Newspaper. She also told the newspaper that " They like to have people watch them taking a shower at least twice a day, of course certain body parts are not shown because there is nontransparent glass in the bathroom. " The public is allowed to send e-mail or faxes to them, or they can put messages on the glass.

Here is a link to "The Urban Dream Capsule" ---------------> http://www.urbandreamcapsule.com/

My question is this dear world : Would you want to see them ?? What would you think of this display of a human zoo ? What are your thoughts on this ??

Tomorrow I have a story to share with you about a guy on E-bay who recently tried to sell New Zealand on one of E-bay's auctions I'll let you wonder about that one until tomorrow.

On a different note I came upon ( 2 ) new journals that I wanted to share with you. One is titled "The Little Things" and the other is titled "sotto voce usa".

Here are the links -----------> http://journals.aol.com/gotomaria/TheLittleThings/

here is the other ------------> http://sottovoceusa.blogspot.com/

Drop over and say hello to the writers of these journals. I enjoyed reading them as I am certain you will.

Well my dear world.......I hope you enjoy reading my entries and getting to know me. I hope you will return for another visit. Take care my dear friends...

Byyyyyye for now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good-night

A Fun Night.........

Hello Dear World....

How are you ???? Tonight was a really fun night. My family and I went to the ESPN Zone here in Atlanta. It started with a little conference there. At the ESPN Zone there was quite a wonderful dinner for everyone which was good. The desserts were amazing especially since there was a Chocolate brownie and they also had a cheesecake.

I took my nieces to play some of the games which they enjoyed. Of course you have to pay to buy different amounts of points but both of my nieces had fun. I bought them a ton of points so they played and played and played until they were both all out of points. I always love spoiling my nieces anywhere we go as you can tell. I have fun with my nieces all the time.

If you would like to know more about it here is the link -------------> http://espnzone.com/atlanta/ . Its located on 3030 Peachtree Road.......Atlanta, GA 30305 its a very fun place for the family as well as for guys. Its also a wonderful place for sports fans like my dad who is a huge sports fan. Anyway check it out and you will see for yourself.

I wanted to share with you a little something of a journal that I came upon recently. The name of the journal is Pete's Place which I really enjoy. Pete is the name of the guy who writes the journal. He writes of his many travels and recently he shared one of his travels to a place called " Waiheke Island " which I thought was pretty nice. Go over and say hello. You will fall in love with reading about his travels as I have. Here is his link ---------------> http://journals.aol.co.uk/pbaldrey/PetesPlace/.

There is another journal that I came upon which is really beautifully written. His journal is filled with some of his travels and his day to day life. I think you will like getting to know him. Here is the link to his journal --------------> http://journals.aol.com/mtrib2/MarksDailyJournal/. Drop over to his place and let him that you stopped for a visit. Tell him I sent you.

Have you been out and about dear world ??? I hope you are doing well. Take care J-Land

Whatchamacall it & Gobbledigook

Hello Dear World.....

How are you ? I hope all of your Mothers out there were spoiled to no end. We decided to buy some ground beef and make hamburgers for Mothers Day. My mom said she didn't feel like going out to eat because she said she didn't want to stand in line. Today she went with my aunt and uncle to this place where they play Casino type games. She is on her way back but she won't be home until late.

To all other Mothers out there " Happy Mothers Day !!!! ".

By the way there is a wonderful lady named Iris who keeps a journal titled " La Dolce Vita ". I have to apologize to her because I took the title to her recent entry and used it in mine as well since I liked her title to her entry. I hope you don't mind Iris I just had to use your title sorry.......sorry....sorry....sorry... Here is the link to her journal -----------> http://journals.aol.co.uk/irisclyde/LaDolceVita/

Anyway....Today started another week at work for me. It was back to the workhouse. It was quite cool here in Atlanta, Georgia its supposed to be nice this weekend. How is the weather in your neck of the woods ?

Today on the 1st floor in one of the offices there was a rather nice looking guy who looked a lot like the Saxophone player Kenny G. He had the sandy brown curly hair and rather amazing ocean blue eyes. I couldn't help but look at him and smile at him more than a few times. He also looked at me and smiled at me quite a few times as well. I have to also tell you that he had the most amazing smile I have ever seen. If you had seen him you would have sworn that it was Kenny G. By the way here is a link to his site ---------> www.kennyg.com/. He was soooo amazingly nice looking and he was dressed nicely too. I'm sorry for sounding so silly but there it is.

On a different note.....One of my favorite singers Nick Lachey recently came out with an album " What's Left of Me ". I have to say that I wish he would get over Jessica Simpson and come out with something strongand edgier. He needs to stop crying over her and getting on with his music career without crying in his beer. He is much too handsome for that. He needs to give me a call. Here's a little site to check out about him ------> www.nick-lachey.net/ .

If your reading this entry Mr. Lachey I'm available hint, hint, hint.

I wanted to point out a blog that I found interesting and so I just had to share it with all of you my dear friends at J-Land. This blog is titled " Butt Sniffin Puppy " its not what you think I promise. Here is the link so you can check it out for yourself -------> http://d34dpuppy.blogspot.com/ . Go over and see it for yourself. Once you check it out you will understand the title......Go take a look.

My Saturday..........

Hello Dear World.....

How are you this fine day ? Let me start off by saying I love Saturdays when I don't make plans. Today my oldest niece, my folks and I went for breakfast at Chick-Fil-A in Stockbridge, Georgia. Check it out here --------> www.chick-fil-a.com/. The food was quite delicious they had a buffet style breakfast. Then we took a ride to the Mobility Warehouse was also located in Stockbridge, Georgia. You can check out its site here ----------> http://www.mobilitywarehouse.com/. For some reason my mom's scooter decided to stop running so we went to see why it stopped running. It turns out that her scooter was fine. The guy working in the store was really helpful to us.

After all of that we took my niece to her piano lesson. Then we went over to the DeKalb Farmers Market where we bought some Crawfish, some Soft-Shelled Crab and I bought some Chocolates as well. We love going there its like visiting a foreign country without having to get on a plane. There was a ton of people there speaking in all kinds of different languages and buying foods from all over the world. I love going there and hearing the different people talk in languages I have never heard before. It is nice to go shopping there to buy foods I have never eaten before. I bought some Chocolates which are from France and Belgium can you imagine. It is all wonderful there let me tell you.

After all of that we went to a store called BrandsMart U.S.A. BrandsMart is a pretty huge store. My niece found a stereo that she fell in love with instantly. I also bought me a new radio and some CD'S. One of them was a CD by USHER and another one was by NATASHA BEDINGFIELD. My dad bought some war movies which being in the NAVY some years ago when he was a young man he loves to watch war movies he is a real history buff. Anything about different wars and things he can tell you. You can check out the place at this site ----------------> www.brandsmartusa.com/. We loved going there it was a wonderful place to look and shop. I have never been in a store that big. There was an upstairs and a downstairs filled with stuff to see and buy. There were a lot of people there shopping as well. It has everything under 1 roof can you imagine a place like that ???

All in all it was a really wonderful day to be out and about doing things with my family. I would like to share a poem with you from the poet / writer R.Brimm who also keeps a journal "Chosen Words" which might help you unwind after your day. The poem is titled "Haiku #151"

Haiku #151

pausing in the shade -

a crow's shadow in the grass

folds                             unfolds.

Harry Potter Lives On And A Yarn Of A Story......

Hello Dear World.....

How are you ? Let me begin by saying that Harry Potter shall live on. You'll understand what I mean when I tell you about a recent event.

Harry Potter won't be expelled from Gwinnett County's public schools. The Gwinnett County school board voted unanimously Thursday to keep the popular book series about a boy wizard in the district's libraries.

A Loganville mother by the name of Laura Mallory had asked the board of the state's largest school district to ban the books, which she said promote and glorify witchcraft. School board members however said the books have merit and have improved students reading skills.

A board member named Carole Boyce said her family enjoys reading the books. "At the very heart of this is censorship", Boyce said. "Our students do understand the difference between fact and fiction. Let's let those who want to read the Harry Potter books have the opportunity to do so."

Laura Mallory, who filed the complaint against the books, said she hadn't decided whether to appeal the board's ruling to state education officials. "I knew what they were going to do, but it's good we live in a country where you can stand up for what you believe in," said Mallory, who is a former missionary. Mallory attended Thursday's meeting, but did not address board members.

Gwinnett's review of the Harry Potter books began in September, when Mallory filed the complaint. Media review panels from a school where her children attend, and the school district ruled the books should remain. the panels were made up of parents, teachers and community members. The retired DeKalb County school administrator who presided over the appeal strongly recommended that the books remain. Board member Mary Kay Murphy, a former English teacher, said the books help students develop the critical thinking skills they need to be successful in high school, college and life. "I support the value of the Harry Potter books to develop children's imagination and ability to read," she said.

It was reported that the Harry Potter books are among the most popular in children's literature, with more than 270 million copies in print.

-------------------------------------

I'm glad that the books were not taken off the shelves. I think that reading books like this helps encourage young children to get into reading. The Harry Potter books should be able to remain on the shelves so that those who are interested in the book.....myself included are able to enjoy them at leisure. I also feel that banning a book from a shelf might lead to all kinds of censorship which would lead to the dangers of also getting rid of people's freedom of speech and their freedom to decide what to say, to think, to wear and to believe.

I'm really glad the books and Harry Potter live on. I'm also sure that J.K. Rowling would be happy to hear the news. Check out the Harry Potter link here ------------> http://harrypotter.warnerbros.com/

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In other news dear world as you know there are a million different stories in this world and each one has a different yarn all its own.........Well I'm about to share one with you.

The story I'm about to share comes with knitting needles. Recently a 68-year-old woman, described as a serial yarn thief, is facing a felony shoplifting charge in Fulton County Superior Court after what yarn store owners claim had been a constant visitor of stealing from knitting stores from Cherokee County to Dunwoody to Buckhead.

The lady in question, Audrey Yandel pulled the wool over shopkeepers' eyes for so long because she looked exactly like the average yarn store customer --:A sweet old lady--- harmless, " said Julie Elledge, the owner of the Dunwoody Yarn Shop who collared Yandel and turned her into police May 1.

Yandel's court date has not been scheduled, according to Erik Friendly, spokesman for the Fulton County district attorney's office, who said she was charged with a felony because there's more thn one incident.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I wonder if the person who was accused of stealing had a reason for doing it. Her punishment should be that she pay a heavy fine and community service.

Any interesting happenings in your neck of the woods dear world ??

I will talk to you tomorrow dear world...........Good-night

A Recent Incident......

Hello Dear World....

How are you today ? I hope you don't mind but I wanted to share something with you.

Recently a Gwinnett County student was suspended for disrupting a lesson and threatening her teacher. School officials from Peachtree Ridge High suspended the student named Beth Anne Cox for five days after she sang and ill-advised version of "On Top of Ol' Smokey" in German class by singing "On top of Ol' Smokey, all covered in blood, I shot my poor teacher with a .44 slug.  In addition to the suspension, the school principal revoked permission for Beth Anne to attend Peachtree Ridge next school year. She will be allowed to return to school next week. The student said she was humming the tune when a classmate asked her about the song. She then sang a lyric about shooting a teacher. She said the lyric was not directed at her teacher, Phil Carroll. She has since apologized to him in a letter.

When Beth Anne suspension ends Monday, she won't return to her German class, she said Wednesday. It was reported that she can't go back to her class because she threatened a teacher. School officials referred questions to Sloan Roach, the school district's spokeswoman. Roach said she could not verify whether Beth Anne would return to the German class.

A few students wore T-shirts to school Wednesday with iron-on pictures of Beth Anne, said one of her friends. Another wore one of the shirts she'd made for other students. She said she planned to wear her shirt for the rest of the week. Roach said the principal's decision not to allow Beth Anne to return to Peachtree Ridge next year is final.

Her mother would like Beth Anne to graduate from Peachtree Ridge and wants assurances the suspension won't hurt her daughter's grades.

-------------------------

In my opinion I think that its horrible that she would sing "On top of Ol' Smokey, all covered in blood, I shot my poor teacher with a .44 slug." How would Beth Anne herself feel if someone sang a song saying "I shot Beth Anne Cox, all covered in blood with a .44 slug ? I don't think she would appreciate someone saying that type of thought towards her even if it was just a song. I think that an apology isn't enough for her at all. I don't think that she should have been allowed back into the school at all. A song that she sang was a terroristic threat directed to a teacher. I feel that no student should make such a comment even if its just a song or a joke. How could she sing something like that anyway ? I feel that her parents should discipline their daughter instead of defending her. I don't support the young lady in question. A teacher shouldn't feel threatened by a student in the classroom no matter the age. Beth Anne was reported to have made this comment "How afraid can you be of a 16-year-old?" I think such a person saying I shot a teacher with a .44 slug is disrespecful and harmful because the next student might actually shoot his/her teacher.

Beth Anne doesn't seem to take the incident seriously. I think that her actions should be taken seriously because the next incident such as this one could be even more harmful to the next teacher in a classroom. I wouldn't want my nieces to be in a classroom with a student like Beth Anne. Its a shame that the classroom have to be disrupted by such a song as she sang. I think that her conduct should be made an example to show other students that conduct such as hers will not be tolerated in a classroom activity. Its a shame that Beth Anne could have wanted to sing such words as shooting a teacher.

Am I wrong dear world ???

My Day......

Hello Dear World.....

How are you ??? I'm doing rather well. I had to take the day off of work to go to the doctor with my mother today in Tucker, Ga. Her doctor's appointment went well.

For lunch we went to a great restaurant called O'Charley's in Tucker. Let me tell you the food was amazing. I had the O'Charley's Ribeye Steak which was good. I also had a soup called an Over-loaded Potato Soup. Usually I don't eat soup but this one was too good to pass up.

My favorite part about going to O'Charley's was our server whose name was Earl. He looked like he was in his early 20's or so. He was a really nice looking guy and he had the most amazing smile. I wish I could have ordered more food so I could have looked at Earl for a few minutes more. I played around with him quite a bit making him come back to the table he was really sweet about it.

Anyway....After my mom and I got back from Tucker we took a ride to the post office to mail something. Then we went to a store called CATO's where I purchased a ring, a necklace and a decorative butterfly made of metal to stick in my room. After all of that we then went to Kroger's to pick up some groceries.

For the evening I will watch some of my favorite shows on television including Bones on Fox with David Boreanaz. I will also watch American Idol hopefully Taylor and Chris will remain on the show tonight. What is your favorite television show dear world ???

All in all I had a pretty wonderful day until I watched American Idol. My favorite guy Chris Daughtry is NO longer on American Idol and I am heart broken.......I can't believe the news. Chris was my favorite singer on the show next to Taylor Hicks. I have to say this for the first and final time. I am NOT going to watch American Idol anymore after tonight. Watching the show left me feeling let down. My Daniel Powter CD will be wore out after tomorrow. What happened to American Idol getting rid of great singers ?? I AM DONE WITH AMERICAN IDOL . I don't feel fine now.

My Tuesday.....

Hello Dear World......

How are you today ?? I'm doing rather well today. Of course it was another day at work for me which is nothing new. How was your day ???

I have some great news....Those of you who are fans of American Idol prepare to smile because it will be on tonight YEAH !!!!!!!!!!! I will get to see Chris Daughtry and Taylor Hicks perform YEAH !!!!!!!! I can't wait to hear them sing. I will also enjoy hearing Kathering McPhee sing tonight as well. I love hearing Chris sing and I also think he is a great looking guy. Yes yes I do. I know I'm a bit silly forgive me.

Anyway....I do have to complain a little bit for a minute. After work I went to Publix which is a grocery store near my home. In Publix I saw a rather nice looking gentleman who was shopping there. He looked like he was in his early 30's or so and he had a really amazing smile. I did say hello to him and I also asked how he was doing. He also said hello and he asked me how I was doing. In return I smiled and told him I was fine.

The thing is I didn't  ask him his name but I wish I would have. He was really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really nice looking. I could have told him how nice looking he was or perhaps even gotten his phone number at least. DAGGONE !!!!!!!!!! At the least I should have asked him his name.

Am I silly or what ?????

A Most Wonderful Sunday.....

Hello Dear World.....

How are you today ?? I have so much to tell you I don't know where to start hmmm......Let me start off by telling you about my oldest niece's piano recital. My niece plays piano did I tell you that ? She does quite well and she likes doing it. She wore a beautiful black dress with a small white ribboned belt along the waist and the bottom of it had a white stripe that goes all around the bottom of the dress. She also wore a small heel pump shoe with straps which I must say she looked beautiful in.

Anyway.....At her piano recital she played a piece on the piano titled "Appalachian Air & Dance" which she played wonderfully. Other young teenagers played pieces as well. I am quite proud of my oldest niece at how talented she is. I just love to see her at all of her recitals. She is turning into a lovely woman more and more everyday. Let me tell you she is also in the band at her school which she plays the Baritone that she plays as well as the piano. She is also very smart let me tell you. My oldest niece is oooh so very dear to me just like my youngest niece who I also love just as dearly.

Anyway..the other part of my day was spent at a place called the DeKalb Farmers Market which is a place with people and foods from all over the world. My oldest niece, my dad and my mother and I went there together. My youngest niece went out with my sister. I'm sure next time she will go with us.

At the Farmers Market you can hear people speaking various different languages like French, Spanish and my mother told me that some of the people were speaking Italian, Irish and many other languages that I must say I didn't really know. At the market we went through and bought some crawfish, fruits, french bread, cookies, various different sparkling ciders and soft shelled crab which is a tasty kind of seafood. My dad also bought some onions and some batter so he could make onion rings the way he likes them. As well as a flower shop and a coffee spot there is a little place as well to shop inside of the DeKalb Farmers Market whereyou can buy all kinds of wonderful desserts like fruit tarts, cheesecakes, mousses, eclairs, baklava's and of course Gelato's which is the famous dessert in Italy as I have come to learn.

After shopping we arrived home where my mom cooked the crawfish and the soft shelled crab and my dad cooked his onion rings which were amazing by the way. I was as they say the taste tester for the onion rings because my dad wanted me to tell him how the onion rings tasted. I have to say that I am a great taste tester if you ever need one. I also ate quite a few sugary desserts that we brought home from the recital and some that we bought home from the Market.

All in all our dinner was quite wonderful....It was a very busy day for me and my family but it is was also fun. Question : Is there a farmers market in your neck of the woods ?? I would like to know. I would also like to ask how your day went ???

I just hope your day was as wonderful as mine. Take care everyone......

Sweet Dreams !!!!!

It Was A Wonderful Saturday !!!!!!!!!

Hello Dear World.....

How was your day ? Let me start with todays weather forecast: It was a lovely day with no clouds in the sky.

As you all know I went to my Church picnic which was fun. I went on a swing quite a few times with my youngest niece. The food was picnic style.....bar-be-que and hot dogs, sodas, lemonade, fruit punch and bottled water. They also had sno-cones and cotton candy.

They had pony rides for the little ones, a wheel which one of the workers turned really fast for the teenagers to enjoy. Then there was a swing for the middle ages to enjoy. They also had face painting, musical chairs and karaoke which I must say that no one there had American Idol talent. A lot of the people had trouble singing because the screen where the words would be wasn't working so the people kind of mumbled to the parts of the songs they didn't know.

My oldest niece hung out with some of her friends from school going on the wheel ride and then they hung out at the picnic. I went around the picnic and I got on the swing with my youngest niece which was fun because other adults got on the swing. It was fun.

I really enjoyed going to the picnic there was many things to see and do.I decided to come and talk to you my dear friends since my family and I returned a few minutes ago from the picnic. Upon returning my nieces had wanted to let me know that they enjoyed themselves at the picnic. Basically everyone had fun.

After all of that my folks left to go to a thing called "A Casino Night" where people can gamble, play cards and do other casino type of games. I'm sure they will have fun.

As for me I am home by myself since my sister took her children out. I must say that I just love Saturdays like this.......By the way how was your Saturday ????

I hope you will have a wonderful evening. Take care and I will talk to you again soon. Take care.

Byyyyyyyyyye for now

Friday, May 5, 2006

Hey....Its Friday !!!!!!!!

Hello Dear World.......

How are things in your part of the world ??? Here the weather acted up quite a bit.....It was hot, then it rained for about a minute, then it got rather hot again and later on it rained again and then it decided to go back to being hot......Maybe the weather is in a bit of a funk today.....Is it possible for the weather to have a bad day ???? I just had to ask.

Anyway.....What I'm about to share with you might sound rather silly but it was all part of my day....So feel free to laugh while reading this... I won't mind. While working at my place of employment there was a guy on the 3rd floor where I was working who was coming out of one of the offices with some paperwork in his hand. A few minutes later he got on the elevator with me and one of my coworkers. Let me just say that he was really, really, really, really nice looking. He had a very nice smile and he also had rather nice eyes. Since I was on the elevator with one of my coworkers I didn't ask him his name but I would have liked too. I have to say this because he was nice looking and he was dressed rather well.

A few minutes later on the 2nd floor there was another nice guy who was wearing an Army uniform and let me tell you he was a really, really, really, really, really, really nice looking guy. He was walking down the hallway so at that moment I took the time to smile and say hello to him and at that moment he smiled at me when he said hello. I have to tell you that this guy had a really great smile to boot.

I would also like to share with you that for a few minutes I got to see and talk to one of the guys at my work.....I won't say his name but I have to tell you that I have had a crush on this guy for quite a while which I know is rather embarrassing especially since he doesn't know but anyway......

On a very different subject I have something I think you might find of interest.....There is a story which some have called a tall tale but let me see what you think........The story involves an autistic Henry County child with a backpack who gets lost at the cavernous Georgia Aquarium, the world's largest indoor fishtank. The original tale began in England in the early 1990s, according to www.Snopes.com .

The boy was from Henry County, he was 9 years old, he was inseparable from his backpack, the aquarium was locked down and searched. The boy is located and returns home with his parents. They later hear the bath water running and find their son in the tub with a penguin and the backpack nearby. A lady from Fayetteville said she heard the story from a relative, who got it from a best friend. After some time the story died down for time, but the popularity of the 2005 movie "March of the Penguins" gave it new life. Some versions of the story have a lot more specifics added been changed though.

In December 2005, officials at Boston's New England Aquarium actually invited reporters to observe a penguin head count to counter the rumors of the story according to Snopes. The opening of the Georgia Aquarium in downtown Atlanta and the subsequent tidal wave of publicity, has once again resurrected the story. The Georgia Aquarium has 15 African penguins in its Cold Water Quest Gallery , and their display is reportedly one of the most popular exhibits at the facility. It was reported that anyone would have to go through five levels of security just to get to the penguins. If someone got to the penguins it is reported that the penguins at the aquarium have sharp beaks. Workers at the Aquarium reported that only the caretakers are able to handle the penguins without getting bitten.

Because of e-mails and talk at the Aquarium the story has reached critical mass over the recent week said Aquarium spokesman Dave Santucci. Well what do you think of the story ???? Do you believe the story ??? Let me know what you think. Here is a link if you want to check out the Georgia Aquarium ----------> www.georgiaaquarium.org/

Now......its time for news about my weekend plans.....If your wondering I will be going to a picnic at my church St. Philip Benizi where there will be food including bar-b-que and hot dogs for children. Lunch will be served 12noon - 3:30pm. There will also be cotton candy, sno cones and ice cream. Rides will include such activities as a moonwalk, a turbo swing and pony rides. Music will include karaoke and other various activities. People can bring lawn chairs and or they can bring blankets which is always always fun. Hopefully the weather will be nice....I'm hoping. The price is 4$/ adults and $2/ children. Tickets come with arm bands. You might want to come.....So here is a link to the Church -----------> www.stphilipbenizi.org/.

What will you be doing this weekend ???? I hope you will have a fun weekend and I hope you all are well.By the way check out my neck of the woods at this link -------> www.earthcam.com/usa/georgia/atlanta/ . Good night my dear world.

I would like to share ( 2 ) journals with you that I enjoy reading. One of the journals is titled "La Dolce Vita" here is the link --------> http://journals.aol.co.uk/irisclyde/LaDolceVita/ . Reading about her and her daily life is wonderful. I'm sure you will getting to know her.... I think you will want to drop over and say hello.

One of my other favorite journals is titled "View From A Farm House Window" which is written by a lovely lady named Mary. She often has audio entries which I think you will enjoy as much as I do. She is a really funny and interesting person........She keeps me coming back and back and back and back to her journal. Here is her link -------> http://journals.aol.com/thisismary/ViewFromAFarmHouseWindow/ . Go over and you will find that she will put a smile on your face just in reading or hearing an entry of hers......I am a fan of hers so go over and say hello.........Tell her I sent you okay..........

I also have a question for you... Do you ever look up at the clouds and see pictures like cars, boats, animals, scissors, cups well today I did. I looked up and I saw this baby elephant standing on its feet and over its head was a cloud in the shape of a doughnut. It looked like he had make this cloud by blowing air out of its snout.........I don't mean to sound weird but that's what I saw.

R.Brimm of the journal "Chosen Words" had a poem in his journal that reminded me of what I saw today..........Here is the poem

Clouds.....

They slide by

shaping opinions

on the fly

trailering

into one great convoy

heading east

dominating

the great blue

highway

slowing my thoughts

to a crawl

fleecing

me of ambition

stealing

My Weekend Trip......

Hello Dear World............I'm Back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On my drive down to Crooked River State Park my family and I saw many different places including the Ogeechee River, the Jerico River and the Turtle River which were all pretty amazing.

After a few long hours of being on the road we arrived at the Crooked River State Park in St. Mary's Georgia. It is located on Georgia's colonial coast and it surrounded by lots of Spanish moss. At night the entire park is pitch black kind of like a haunting poem that the famous poet Mr. Poe would have written about.

Before I go let me say that there is a restaurant by the park called St. Mary's Seafood & Steak House which doesn't have good food at all. My family and I wouldn't recommend it. So there's no need to stop there for a bite to eat.

Now on to the news of my trip.........and some little notes about it.

For all of you bird lovers like me..........Crooked River State Park is home to various birds such as a Chimney Swift, a Purple Martin, a Gray Catbird, a Pine Warbler, a Song Sparrow, a Common Grackle, a Brown-Headed Cowbird, a Rock Dove and many others.

What I'm also about to share with you might not be so interesting.......but here it is. Crooked River is also home to rather large sized pine cones which I didn't know until I arrived.

Here is something more interesting........My family and I went to a Crawfish festival in a place called Woodbine, Georgia. The Crawfish was pretty good and I have to say that there was a huge amount of people there. There were items there for sale such as purses, belts, arts and crafts and toys and various other items for people like myself to buy. I didn't buy anything but my oldest niece purchased a sparkly gold purse which she loves. At the festival there was also some pretty tasty funnel cakes which were mouth-watering. Here's a little note..........To get to the Crawfish you had to take a long walk to the beginning of the festival to the very end of a long bridge which seemed to go on forever. We finally got to the end and ate which was the best part of the festival for me. Before getting back to the car we stopped at some booths which sold fast food. My folks had hot dogs on a stick while my oldest niece and I had a ice cream called mini-melts which resembled dippin' dots. After all of that we got back at the park.

At the park I rode on my oldest niece's bicycle which I have to admit I haven't ridden in quite a while. For dinner we went to a place called La Cucina which was something like being in a small cafe in Italy. After dinner we went back the campsite where my dad, both of my nieces and I played our own kind of baseball. For those of you who want to know the showers at Crooked River were nice. Though they didn't have a beach or a pool for us to enjoy it turned out to be a nice campground. The number of our campsite was #22 by the way.......

On the very last day of our trip we packed up the camper and we headed out on the road. Before heading home we stopped off at the Cracker Barrel to eat. We also bought a few items there.

After the Cracker Barrel we stopped off in a little town called Metter, Georgia before heading home. There was a few ducks who came up to us when we started feeding them Cheetos puffs. One of the ducks had ( 5 ) baby ducks with them which both of my nieces loved including my folks and I. While we were feeding the ducks we started noticing that in the water turtles started coming up to the surface and taking some of the cheetos down into the water which we had never seen before. They seemed to enjoy the cheetos we had.

If your curious Metter is the county seat of Candler County. Its located in the heart of Southeast Georgia between Macon and the port city of Savannah. After Metter we stopped off at a little gas station and then we popped back into the car and finally headed for home.
