Some Notes And A Little Sad News

Hello dear world

Good evening how are you ?? Let me start off by saying that more of the pollen that I told you about recently has coated everything in sight. I am longing for rain and I wouldn't mind if it rained for a couple of weeks without end I wouldn't complain.

Anywho....last night my dad brought home some Crawfish. My family and I enjoy eating Crawfish they are quite tasty. He also brought home some small red potatoes which are my favorite of all. Later in the evening I watched the Lifetime series "Blood Ties" which is becoming another show I am falling in love with.

In other news today started another week of work for me and my coworkers. I do have some sad news to report.....Staff Sgt. Blake M. Harris died on Thursday March 15, outside of Baghdad. A remotely detonated bomb exploded while Harris led American soldiers on a foot patrol. He was the 3,206th U.S. soldier to die in Iraq since the war began. He will be buried in Arlington Cemetery next week. Blake Harris grew up in the Jonesboro Baptist Church. His parents, Paul and Anne, moved to Jonesboro a few months before he was born. He graduated from Lovejoy High School in 1997 and went off to boot camp a week later. He would have been 28 years old on March 30. He was on his third tour of duty in the Middle East.

My dear world it seems like everytime I turn on the television or read the newspaper I find that another soldier has been killed while fighting in the war in Iraq. Nothing seems to change there. I think that it would be nice if President Bush went ahead and pulled the troops out of Iraq. I know that I may be a zillion miles away from Iraq and I may not be experiencing war firsthand but it still affects me. I realize that I am able to be home with my family, watching television or going out shopping and that the troops don't have that ability but I am wishing they could all be out of harm's way. I can't remember where it all really began or where it will ever end.

On a different note I am so very happy to report that I got home to find that my dear friend Diane sent me a letter in the mail today and let me just say YEAH !!!!!!!!!! Its so very nice hearing from her whenever I get the chance. I will be sending her a letter in the mail tomorrow so she will be hearing from me as well. Let me also say "HI DIANE !!"

Last but not least how was your day my dear world ?? What were you up to today ?? I hope you are not suffering from an attack of "THE POLLEN" sounds like a horror movie doesn't it ??? Finally tonight I will be watching "24" with the very handsome Kiefer Sutherland which I'm sure will be another exciting program.

Do take care my dear world. I'll talk to you again soon.

Byyyye !!!!!!!!!

That yellow stuff has everything coated here also. I am trying to stay inside as much as possible to avoid breathing any of it. I walked barefoot out onto the porch today and left footprints in the pollen. Helen

Hi Monae,

We, as the people of the US and UK have a lot to answer for. Was our silence the go ahead for our governments to proceed with action? Perhaps in the fututre we will learn lessons from this conflict and not do what we have done this time.

Sorry for being so serious but this is one hell of a situation that both our countries have managed to get themselves into.

We are finally getting settled into our new home. Most boxes have now been unpacked although the garage is still full of stuff. It is just becoming so much like a proper home now. We had my 2 boys through this weekend (David & Michael) and it was lovely to see them enjoying the whole house.

We both love the products from the Yankee Candle Company which we can buy here in Scotland. At the moment our fav perfume is White Linen which has a fab fresh smell - it may be called White Cotton - I'm not sure!!!!

We love Crawfish as well Monae, I think we call them Prawns here - you know - when you cook them they go all pink and are great with seafood sauce and salad. I had an accident last night - I knocked over  our mug tree one of the 6 Dunoon mugs that Eva has and it broke on the kitchen floor - smashed to bits so I went online and ordered a replacement - not the exact same but pretty close to it so it should arrive any day now. I think the website is www.dunoon.co.uk or if not then if you look up Google for Dunoon Ceramics then I'm sure you will find it.

Take care and avoid all that pollen!!!!

Hi Monae! ... Glad you finally got my letter :O) ... About the ongoing war in Iraq, my sister's husband/brother-in-law, named Robert, is a Staff Sergeant for the U.S. Marines. In the fall of 1995, at the age of 29, Robert was deployed to the Iraq War for his 3rd tour of duty (2nd time in Iraq).  About a month later, he was riding in a Humvee as one of 10 Marine soldiers when they got hit with a similar IED (improvised explosive device:  aka: makeshift bomb)  that S.Sgt. Harris similarly encountered.  Of the 10 onboard, 1 died, and all were severely injured.  Robert loss the use of his right arm.  Since then, he has already had 3 surgeries on it, they have had little success in restoring it to fully function.  He was one of the lucky ones in that he is alive and still has his right arm, there were others who did lose limbs permanently.  He and the other 8 survivors, all nearly died that day along with the one that did indeed face death.

On the world news, it was REPEATEDLY reported that only 4 U.S. Marines were involved in the IED incident, this was not true!  Neither corrections nor retractions were ever made.  It sickens me even now to think about how falsely and under reported these tragic events truly are.  There are a countless number of other U.S. soldiers who are all facing death in Iraq every second, of every day, that they are there, like TODAY.  So, like you, I too HOPE and WISH our troops a very SPEEDY and SAFE return back home SOON!!!

I would also like to mention that Robert told us that, prior to the explosion, his unit had asked on a number of occasions for a "snow plow" to be installed on their Humvee.  The snow plow would have served as extra protection from IEDs, for flying shrapnel and the like.  They were ignored.  Now, we ANGRILY wonder in our minds, whether or not the implementation of something as simple as a snow plow equipped to the front-end of the

(my comment got cut off...)
